Garcia’s Mexican Food on Fredericksburg Road is one of the Top 25 Mexican Restaurants in San Antonio.
Mike Sutter/StaffTimes food writer Priya Krishna praised the brisket taco experience at Garcia’s with a sentiment that San Antonio taco fans understand completely: “A juicy, crisp-edged slab of brisket, a blanket-soft tortilla, some pico de gallo — when the basics are executed this well, there’s no need for any other adornments.”
I’d put Garcia’s black-gold brisket against brisket from the best barbecue shops in town. They put it in tacos, on a barbecue sandwich, on nachos, on a plate of its own with guacamole salad. It’s a jack of all trades, and a master of all of them. And it’s all available from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 842 Fredericksburg Road.
And while we’re at it, the Times list also recognized Cochineal in the tiny West Texas art hamlet of Marfa for its free-range bison.
