The Dish: Celebrity bodyguard/actor dines out in Riverside - Greenwich Time

Scene… Actor and celebrity bodyguard Chuck Zito, best known for his roles in “Sons of Anarchy,” “Oz” and “Homefront,” was seen dining at Tony’s at the JHouse in Riverside last week.

Out there… The Greenwich Police Department is celebrating its 125th anniversary with the theme “Honoring Our Past and Embracing Our Future.” Special events are scheduled throughout 2021. Chief of Police James Heavey and the department are marking this milestone by welcoming the community and longtime partners to take part in several events, including the Greenwich Police Department Scholarship Fund Benefit Car Show on Aug. 28; the Greenwich Policeman’s Ball at the Riverside Yacht Club on Oct. 16; and a Patron’s Cocktail Party on Sept. 30 at Miller Motorcars Ferrari Showroom. Also, Funky Monkey Toys and Books on Greenwich Avenue is donating 10 percent of sales from personalized Easter/Passover baskets from March 30 to April 3 to benefit the GPD’s Scholarship Fund. NicholsMD will donate 5 percent of its “Product of the Month” in June to the fund, and Miku Sushi on Greenwich Avenue will create a special sushi roll with proceeds donated in September. Scene… The team at Citrola Casting is seeking locals in the area to be extras in the Netflix thriller “The Good Nurse” starring Oscar-nominated actor Jessica Chastain and Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne, along with NFL pro turned actor Nnamdi Asomugha. A casting call has gone out for everyday pedestrians, policemen, firefighters and medical personnel, as well as contortionists, sword-swallowers and circus performers. The movie is based on the true story of the pursuit and capture of serial killer Charles Cullen, aka “The Angel of Death.” Extras will be required to get a COVID test. Filming starts in April. Out there… The 10th annual Greenwich Town Party will be moved from the originally scheduled date of May 29 to a tentative date of Saturday, Sept. 4, during the Labor Day weekend. Sponsorships and Neighbor Passes are available now. The GTP will not hold a lottery for Community Tickets this year because all Community Tickets purchased in 2020 will be honored in 2021. Those who bought tickets for the 2020 event but cannot attend this year will be eligible for a full refund. Scene… The artwork of Marla Beth Enowitz from Rye Brook, N.Y., founder of Marla Beth Designs, can be seen in the windows of The Palace Theatre on Atlantic Street. Enowitz’s latest work, a large-scale mural titled “Stars for the Stars,” features hundreds of abstract stars painted inside and outside of the glass in different colors and sizes underneath a curtain of dreamy clouds. Her custom pieces are featured in beautiful private homes and businesses in the tristate area, including at The First Bank of Greenwich, The Spa at The J House and a 600-square-foot mural at The Westchester.

Out there… The Avon in Stamford is celebrating the Academy Awards with screenings of the 2021 Oscar-Nominated Short Films beginning on Friday, April 2. Each program of shorts — live action, animated and documentary — requires a separate ticket. The animated shorts include “Yes-People” from Iceland, “Burrow” from the U.S., “Genius Loci” from France, “If Anything Happens I Love You” from the U.S., “Opera” from South Korea and the U.S., “The Snail and the Whale” from the U.K. and Germany, “Kapaemahu” from the U.S. and “To Gerard” from the U.S. For more films, tickets and show times, go to www.avontheatre.org.

Dining out… Stamford Downtown’s StrEateries program with extended outdoor dining returns Thursday, April 1. Restaurant patios will extend to parking spaces on Bedford Street, Summer Street, Lower Summer Street, Atlantic Street, Bank Street and Main Street. The parking lot between Bedford and Forest streets will be closed for the season. The Bedford Street Piazza, a portion of the parking area behind Bedford Street near the Bedford Street Garage, will be transformed into a massive outdoor dining patio featuring some of Stamford Downtown’s best restaurants.
