Breakfast & Bubbles, a new boozy brunch spot specializing in all-day Champagne breakfast, has taken over the former home of Café on Park, which shut down last summer.
The 80-seat restaurant at 3831 Park Blvd. in the Hillcrest/North Park area opened on May 27, serving a mix of American breakfast and brunch items and Sicilian-inspired dishes, along with a raw bar, caviar service, breakfast charcuterie boards, cocktails, beer, Champagne flights and Champagne by the bottles. The restaurant’s chef is Marco Provino of Rusticucina and Farmer’s Table restaurants.

B&B took over the vacant 3,000-square-foot restaurant space that was occupied for 25 years by Café on Park, which closed last July as the result of pandemic-related losses.
Untappd beer fest coming in October
The Untappd Beer Festival, the inaugural live event for the Untappd craft beer community ratings app and BeerAdvocate website, will debut Oct. 1-3 at Petco Park in East Village.
Untappd officials say they believe it’s the first large-scale beer festival announced in the country since the easing of COVID-19 restrictions began.
More than 70 breweries will participate in the three-day festival, which will also feature live music. Ticket-buyers will be able to purchase admission to 3 ½-hour tasting sessions, where they can have unlimited beer samples in a souvenir tasting cup.
Tickets are $65 for general admission or $150 for VIP access, which adds an extra tasting hour and access to exclusive tastings and tours. There are also plans for a “virtual” fest ticket, where buyers can have 10 featured beers delivered to their door and access to virtual programming. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the San Diego Brewers Guild.
Jaclyn Lash, vice president of special events for the San Diego Padres — who will be away that weekend playing a season-closing series against the San Francisco Giants — said the team is excited to get back to producing events at the baseball stadium.
“As we move towards normalcy throughout California, we are thrilled to host one of the first in-person beer festivals and continue to play an integral role in bringing live events back to San Diego,” Lash said, in a statement.

Blank Table returns
Blank Table, a monthly dinner series designed around building connections among strangers through conversations over a meal, will return with its first dinner of 2021 on Friday. Future dinners are planned on July 22, Aug. 20 and Sept. 30.
The dinners were created by two childhood friends who grew up in Coronado, hospitality industry veteran Alexandria Ott and chef Fred Keller. The goal of the dinners is to bring together communities of people to advocate for positive change and economic growth in San Diego. Each dinner takes place at an undisclosed location.

Mustangs & Burros, the Baja-inspired patio restaurant at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, has introduced a new food and cocktail menu for the summer.
Dishes include barbacoa sopas, shrimp agua chile verde, Prime tomahawk chop with chimichurri, crispy skin salmon, duck carnitas and birria de res and conchinita. New cocktails include the tropical Common Sense, the vodka-based Watermelon Sugar Fire and mezcal-based 5-Star Review.

Mountain Mike’s Pizza opens in Oceanside
Mountain Mike’s Pizza, a family-style pizza chain based in Newport Beach, will open its second Oceanside location on June 12 at 2251 S. El Camino Real, Oceanside.
In honor of the grand opening, on June 12 the restaurant will offer a large specialty pizza for just $20.21, a complimentary order of 24 wings with purchase of any Mountain-sized pizza, and one free mini pepperoni or cheese pizza per child with purchase. And between 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday, there will be a DJ, face painter and balloon artist, as well as visits by local breweries giving away free items.

Moonshine Flats reopens
Moonshine Flats, the downtown country-western bar and live music club, will reopen Friday, June 11, after being closed since March 2020.
The venue will reopen at 8 p.m. Friday with line dancing at 8:45 p.m., live music from Summer 97 from 10 p.m. to midnight and DJ and dancing until close. Online registration is available online for no-cover entry: moonshineflats.com/guest-list/.
