There are two things that make life better and that’s pasta and cake.
These specific carbs are life and now they have come together to make a dish of epic proportions.
Introducing the honeycomb pasta cake.
The brainchild of food guru Valentina Mussi, aka @sweetportfolio, this is a cake in pasta form.
Layered with rigatoni pasta, bolognese and cheddar cheese and mozzarella, this is a masterclass in comfort food.
Surprisingly easy to make, this will quickly become one of your favourite meals to have on rotation.
It’s ideal for families and for those who like to batch cook.
Simply pop in the fridge and reheat.
Ingredients
- 1 box uncooked rigatoni pasta
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 3 cups Bolognese sauce
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups fresh mozzarella
- Preheat oven to 380°F.
- Cook the rigatoni pasta al dente and strain.
- Grease a 9’ spring pan with butter and layer some bolognese sauce.
- Stand the rigatoni on end, one next to each other, until the pan is filled.
- Top with some shredded mozzarella and top each rigatoni pasta piece with a small piece of fresh mozzarella.
- Add the remaining sauce on top and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top to fill holes and gaps in an even layer. Cover the pan with tin foil and bake 20-minutes.
- Remove foil and cook another 10 minutes.
Enjoy!
