Little Red Fox’s Ice Cream and Cake Shop Reopens This Weekend - Eater DC

Chevy Chase’s popular coffee shop, bakery, and market Little Red Fox is bringing its newish sweets shop Sugar Fox back just in time for spring. Sugar Fox went into winter hibernation, but this Friday, the shop will be back to dishing out treats like ice cream, shakes, mini-sheet cakes, and cupcakes.

Little Red Fox’s Instagram sets out some Covid ground rules, writing: “We’ll be doing in-store service, but limiting to one customer, group or family at a time in our little shop to keep everyone safe.” The hours in-store are 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Sugar Fox will continue to offer online cake orders.

• Columbia Pike’s controversial Purple Lounge will not be bright purple much longer. ARLnow reports that business owner Layth Mansour is opening up a restaurant and hookah lounge in the space and is planning on painting the building’s exterior beige. Mansour expects to open his alcohol-free establishment by the beginning of June, after making repairs to the former Purple Lounge (the site of multiple shootings over the years). “The last people here really, really screwed this place up,” Mansour told ARLnow. “The exterior of the building is damaged, the plumbing is messed up… they were never up to date with any type of inspection. They didn’t even have fire extinguishers in the place.”
• D.C.’s popular burger spot Lucky Buns is expanding to Baltimore. Chef Alex McCoy announced the news, writing on Instagram: “Hey Charm City! We’re coming for ya hon!” No word yet on the exact location in Baltimore.
• Local restaurant chain Pho Viet USA opened up a branch in Bethesda recently, per Bethesda magazine. The menu includes banh mi and rice dishes in addition to 10 types of pho.
• ARLnow reports the news that this spring and summer, visitors to Crystal City Water Park will be able to walk around with an alcoholic beverage from Peruvian Brothers. The park near Amazon’s new headquarters received a Virginia ABC permit to become a “sip and stroll” destination.
