Scene… One of Greenwich’s favorite eateries, The Pizza Post on East Putnam Avenue, which has served the community for over 48 years, is getting closer to reopening its doors. The newly renovated restaurant, owned by Matt Criscuolo, has undergone major renovations and expansions after sustaining extensive damage in a fire in October 2019. Stay tuned!
Out there… The Bedford Playhouse in nearby Bedford, N.Y., is hosting “True Justice; Bryan Stevenson’s Fight for Equality,” winner of the 2020 Emmy Award for Outstanding Social Issue Documentary. Viewers can screen the film through Jan. 13 and join a panel discussion on the film and its implications for dismantling systemic racism at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13. The Q&A moderated by the Rev. Kym McNair of Antioch Baptist Church, will include Westchester Youth Alliance teens; Dr. Anderson Smith, of Rehabilitation Through the Arts; Omar Jackson, of GOSO NYC; and Samuel Kuhn, of Yale Law School. Out there… The Greenwich Historical Society is opening a new exhibit called “Lost Landscape Revealed: Childe Hassam and The Red Mill, Cos Cob” in celebration of a recently acquired Childe Hassam painting. The exhibit will offer a view into Cos Cob at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and its role in the development of American art. Hassam, one of America’s foremost Impressionists, and fellow artists Elmer MacRae and Kerr Eby captured the appearance of the waterfront community known as Cos Cob’s Lower Landing. The exhibit will be on view Jan. 16 to March 28. Visitors must reserve tickets at www.greenwichhistory.org/visit. Out there… The Westport Library, The Westport Country Playhouse, TEAM Westport, The Westport/Weston Interfaith Council and the Westport/Weston Interfaith Clergy will honor the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of free virtual events from Jan. 17 through Jan. 21. A conversation with bestselling author Layla F. Saad, who wrote the 2020 groundbreaking book, “Me and White Supremacy,” will kick off the celebration from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17. The presentation is open to the public. Space is limited.
