Available at Walmart, the kit is priced at $14.98 and comes with a giant Twinkie pan, cake mix, filling mix, and instructions. All that we home bakers have to do is add eggs, water, oil, and heavy cream—and bake! The whole thing comes adorned with a holiday bow, so you can give the kit itself as a gift or bake the cake and share it with those you hold near and dear.
A giant Twinkie cake is perfect for the holiday table, for any special occasion, or just because. There is no word on how long the product will be around, if it is just a holiday offering, or if we can find the massive Twinkle on store shelves permanently. The bow indicates it is a holiday product, so perhaps picking up a few is a good idea. The kit can be purchased in stores and online, and they are going quickly.
Twinkie has been a favorite snack for over half a century, first hitting the snack scene in 1930. Fun fact: the original filling for the snack cake was banana, but it was switched to vanilla cream when banana imports stopped during World War II. The Twinkie we all know and love has been filled with vanilla cream ever since.
