Fault Line Cakes are the new trend in the cake world that’s going viral on social media and I can see why—they’re jaw-dropping! I’m seeing all kinds of super creative cakes, like this Strawberry Fault Line cake from The Little Blog of Vegan. She used a large open star tip nozzle and piped swirls around the top of the cake, added some freeze-dried strawberries, then piled on fresh strawberries. Amazing work! So much patience and time go into each one of these impressive confectionary delights!

I don’t know which one that I love more in this roundup of 22 best Fault Line Cakes, but they are really works of love and these cake designers are true artists showing off their talents. I have a difficult time just frosting a cake, so I really can’t imagine how they do it. They are all stunning!

Make sure to scroll through to see each and every one of these magnificent cakes below. Who knows, maybe you will be able to create one of these fantastic Fault Line Cakes for someone’s birthday, anniversary, wedding or next cake blog post!

What is a Fault Line Cake?

When making a Fault Line Cake, instead of carving out actual chunks of cake, lines of buttercream are swiped out and filled with sprinkles. More cake for us! They are show-stopping cakes! The making of the fault line cake can be a bit messy however, since sprinkles get everywhere. Sprinkles make the cakes shine though. Fault Line Cakes can also showcase fresh fruit such as limes, lemons, and figs, like the Honey Cake in this slideshow.
