The Dish: Piccante Pizza
The Place: Lynora’s Market, 3301 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach; 444-3932.
The Price: $13.95
The Details: Under ordinary circumstances, I’m a fine cook. I can turn out complex recipes, roasting a duck to tender perfection with a crispy skin, stirring up a savory coq au vin and throwing together a pound cake that conjures memories of church dinners.
But since the coronavirus pandemic began, my cooking has been spotty at best — overcooked chicken, ruined eggs, an oven fire.
Thank goodness for Lynora’s Market; it’s kept me from starving.
The Neapolitan-style pizzas are baked up well done, with thin, crispy crusts and toppings that are plentiful.
This Piccante pie lives up to its name, with spicy pepperoni, soppressata and cherry peppers served atop a fresh tomato sauce and tempered by bufala mozzarella.
And Lynora’s? It’s a counter-service market with a few tables.
The staff has been especially careful with social distancing and wearing of masks. They even segregate and sanitize the pens customers use to sign checks. ¦
