The Stanford Dish recreational area will reopen next Monday with new infrastructure changes to promote social distancing.
Stanford has added an access gate at Stanford Avenue, as well as signage turning the 3.3-mile loop trail into a one-way counterclockwise path. Visitors are also encouraged to bring face coverings and stay at least 6 feet apart from anyone not in their immediate household or social bubble.
“We’ve carefully worked to balance the need to adhere to public health guidance with preserving what people enjoy most about the Dish,” associate vice president for community engagement Megan Swezey Fogarty said in a news release Monday.
Starting Monday, the Dish will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The popular recreational area has been closed since April 3, after a “persistent minority” of visitors flouted rules intended to maintain social distancing and comply with Santa Clara County’s shelter in place order.
In addition to the hiking and jogging trail, the Dish is home to academic research, habitation conservation programs and environmental restoration efforts.
